The MITRE trust board is seeking new trustees to help develop and sustain excellence in all its schools into the future. Trustees play an essential and very important voluntary role, challenging and supporting trust leaders to make sure provision for every child in every school works and that all aspects of business services (including a multi-million pound budget and a workforce of more than 400) are effective.

The trust board has “local governing body” committees for each school but ultimately takes the overall governance responsibility for all schools. We are therefore looking for committed individuals to act as trustees and to bring their expertise to the table, supporting our success.

In particular at present the board seeks new trustees with expertise and experience in any of the following areas, although expressions of interest are welcomed more widely:
- Finance
- HR
- The Law
- Safeguarding in Schools
- Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

All our trustees are supportive of our status as a fully inclusive Church of England trust and attend 6 meetings per year; 3 full board and 3 as a member of one of our scheduled committees. They fully engage with and prepare for meetings and also offer their time to link more directly with one of our schools and undertake occasional wider activities and training.

Being a trustee is an interesting and important role and genuinely makes a difference to the futures and lives of young people.
