Minster Trust for Education (MITRE) is a growing multi-academy trust (MAT) which has at its core a collaborative model of leadership and a belief in sharing expertise while unerringly pursuing the best education for pupils in its schools.

The trust was formed by a committed group of schools in and around the town of Southwell, Nottinghamshire.  These schools have worked as a close family for many years and wish to continue their work together as a multi-academy trust to both secure and continue to improve the quality of education in the local area.  MITRE continues to grow beyond the original group of partner schools, welcoming others that align with our philosophy and approach.

Each MITRE school is both unique and commits to the common goals and collective practice development of the trust. All partner schools directly influence trust development priorities and work closely and directly with the MITRE team.  Each school strives to provide an education with outstanding outcomes and a wider holistic and enriching experience in school.

While remaining local in its vision, MITRE has an aspiration to grow, with other schools in the vicinity who share our goals joining us so that we might work together for the highest quality of education in our part of the East Midlands.  We are pleased that the trust will be welcoming more schools in coming months, while being mindful of our commitment to know each partner school well, working closely and directly together. 

Minster Trust for Education is a designated sponsor of schools and is committed to working with those aiming to improve rapidly and in need of more intensive support.

Minster Trust for Education already has a heritage of successfully supporting schools.  The trust has a growing and expert team of professionals serving each school's education and business needs.  At the heart of the multi-academy trust is the Minster Learning Alliance which has developed from the Minster Teaching School Alliance.  The trust is led by a National Leader of Education who, together other colleagues, has supported others to make significant and sustained improvement, including successful projects with primary, secondary and special schools. These have helped schools in the most need to move their provision to be highly effective, with Ofsted rating and outcomes improving as a result.

MITRE is a Church of England Multi-Academy Trust and is both uniquely Christian and fully inclusive, with founder members including Church Schools and those of no specific religious character.  Each MITRE school is encouraged to maintain its unique character and ethos, while the trust itself is founded on Christian principles which translate readily into any school context.
